Miura Golf Clubs – Simply Put, the Best Irons Available

I used to feel that golf was primarily a mental game; give a monkey a set of clubs, teach him the basics of the swing and gradually – like the rest of us he will get better. As far as equipment goes, one stick is as good as the other. It ain’t the arrow; it’s the Indian – if you catch my drift.

miura Recently my feelings have changed. I have graduated from the oversized “sweet spot as big as a toaster” set of clubs to a set that are more “player-friendly” to a set of forged cavity backed irons. Needless to say, I was seeing improvement in my game along the way and have gone from a 19 handicap a year and a half ago, down to an 8 or 12 – depending upon how much we are playing for and how badly I need the cash. Now it is time to walk in the same shoes – OK, swing the same clubs – as some of the big boys.

I have been waiting impatiently for my new Miura K Grind Wedge to get here. I haven’t decided on which set of Miura irons to start with – they seem to make something for every semi-decent player out there – but I have decided on a new sand wedge.

Miura’s K Grind Wedge looks like someone stuck their fingers in the mold as the club head was being cast. Don’t get me wrong; this is still one fine looking club; and this “fluting” is not without purpose.

The three channels created on the sole of the club reduce resistance against the wedge as it moves through thick rough, sand and even the fairway.  This allows the sole of the wedge to move with the grass instead of against it; the channels move around the sand instead of colliding with it.  With Miura’s K Grind wedge, the golfer can accelerate through the ball with less effort in every condition and improve the odds of hitting a good shot. Each Miura K Grind wedge is grinded by hand and delivers uncompromised performance to your short game.

Since switching to the Miura K Grind Wedge I have been able to hit out of wet sand with better results. I no longer seem to take too much sand on longer bunker shots and I can get it out of the thickest rough with more consistency. It’s as easy to hit from the short grass in the middle of the fairway as it is from the rough and sand especially on anything less than a full swing.

About Miura Golf:
Japanese golf-club manufacturer Miura Golf has been making the world’s highest-quality forged irons for 44 years. Designed and manufactured by patriarch and club expert Katsuhiro Miura with the help of his sons Yoshitaka and Shinei, Miura makes its forged clubs — irons, wedges and putters — in the company’s one factory and one forge, both in the city of Himeji. For centuries Himeji was the seat of the ancient Japanese art of samurai sword making.

Miura clubs are made one by one; using many handcrafting processes, and will never be mass produced. Special forging techniques assure that the grain of the steel in each club will be fine and uniform, with no voids or tiny bubbles that could interfere with the famous Miura purity of the strike. This grain, more comparable to a jar of sand than a jar of marbles, is the result of careful and patient forging and finishing, and sets Miura apart from other clubs.

Miura Golf’s corporate office is located in Vancouver, British Columbia and Miura Golf clubs are sold at the finest custom-fitting shops in North America. The Miura brand is marketed exclusively by Miura Golf Inc., in the United States and North America. More information on Miura and their complete line of products can be found at www.miuragolf.com. It looks like my next big decision will be which set of irons will I get to take me to the next level?
