Autumn at Smoky Mountain Country Club

One of my favorite times of the year is autumn, when the hills are alive with the spectacular colors of fall, particularly in western North Carolina among the Great Smoky Mountains. One of the finest destination resorts in the region is the Smoky Mountain Country Club in Whittier, where over 80% of their guests are repeat vacationers, returning year after year.

With a color display season that commences in late September and often does not end until early November, you can enjoy daily temperatures ranging in the 60’s and 70’s. The palate of yellow leaves from poplars, orange from sugar maples, red from sourwoods and the burgundy of the majestic oaks surround your stay and play at the Country Club.

Nestled in the heart of the Smokies, Smoky Mountain Country Club is surrounded by 5,000 foot peaks descending into deep shaded gorges where trout filled streams turn into rushing whitewater rivers. The golf course with 400 foot elevation changes provide a unique and challenging golf adventure. The par 71, 6,150 yard Thomas Walker design features impeccably maintained bent-grass greens with Bermuda tees and fairways. Four sets of tees allow players of all ages and skill levels to enjoy this extraordinary mountain golf experience. The well stocked pro shop is next to the practice putting surface and there is a driving range to tune up before the challenging trek on the breathtaking golf course.

A trip to Smoky Mountain Country Club is more than a few hours of exhilarating golf. The resort, known for its unparalleled southern hospitality and guest services, allows guests to relax, unwind and enjoy the serenity and spectacular scenery. The comfortable luxury condominiums on property are fully equipped with all the comforts of home. The Persimmon Grille in the clubhouse is available for lunch and caters for large groups enjoying an outing for a few days. Harrah’s Cherokee Casino is less than 10 miles away. Amenities include a heated swimming pool and spa, 2 lighted tennis courts, locker rooms with saunas, and a fitness room.

Smoky Mountain Country Club is located an hours drive of Ashville, NC, 2 hours from Knoxville, Tennessee and 3 hours from Atlanta and Charlotte.

If you have never experienced fall in the Smokies, try it you’ll like it. For more information and a custom golf package quote, contact Michael Cornblum at 828-497-2772 or visit CarolinaMountainGolf.com.
