Mission Belts – A Perfect Fit, Every Time

Mission Belt is not only one of the best belts money can buy, it’s a belt with a mission. And, when you buy a Mission Belt, you become part of the mission.

Their mission is actually a great philanthropic effort – a dollar from every belt goes to fight hunger and poverty worldwide through micro-lending. Micro-loans range from $25-$500 dollars per loan and in these parts of the world even small loans make a big difference. In parts of the world where millions of industrious, motivated people are striving for a better life, sometimes the only thing holding them back is a few bucks to get things started. Mission Belt looks at it more as lending a hand rather than a handout.

In order to facilitate this plan, Mission Belt has partnered with Kiva, a peer-to-peer micro-lending institution, to help get their Mission Loans out to those in need around the world. Kiva’s micro-loans invest in individuals with an idea and the desire to work who don’t have access to traditional sources of capital. To date, Mission Belt and their customers have processed loans in over 79 nations worldwide and have given out more than 200,000 unique loans that range anywhere from $25-$500 each. Mission Belt is helping hard-working people put food on their tables while giving them the opportunity to make their way out of poverty and hunger.

The Belts themselves are unique works of art. Mission Belts have no holes; holes that will stretch out and look bad. Mission Belts have a ratchet mechanism in the buckle; they adjust every quarter inch. So if you spend a couple of days grazing the buffets on that cruise vacation, you can rest assured that your belt is going to fit perfectly every time.

The release lever on each Mission Belt is intuitive and smooth, making it relatively easy to unbuckle. It’s something you’ll be grateful for the next time you’re going through airport security or have a bathroom emergency. The straps are made of leather, real leather. Not your typical coarse rough leather; these straps are smooth and shiny. They’re just priced so that everyone can afford them. They also offer canvas and nylon belts. Mission Belts are available in two widths – 35mm and 40mm. All buckles and straps are interchangeable within their respective width.

The Belt you bought is a little too long? No problem, you can resize it yourself. Simply undo the clasp on the back of the buckle and slide the strap out. Get a pair of scissors and cut the strap to the appropriate length; just be sure to cut the end that goes in the buckle. Once you get the desired length, put it back together and put it on!

Mission Belts are available in several styles and colors. On the website you’ll find several collections for men and women including Italian Leather, Western, and Boss. They also have buckles from many of your favorite NBA, NHL and NCAA teams. Women’s belts are more about color than different styles and textures. No matter what you choose, you’re assured of a great looking, perfect fitting belt. Every time. They also have a few belts for kids.

You can see everything Mission Belts has to offer including some cool hats and tee shirts at www.missionbelt.com.

TaylorMade TP5x golf ball
5-layer construction with cast urethane cover
Tour Flight Dimple Pattern
Firmer feel
Short shot spin improved
Choice of white or yellow
At retail March 5, $49.99 dozen

WYNTK:
TaylorMade’s 2021 TP family of five-layer premium balls has a redesigned dimple pattern with a shallower radius for less spin off the club and steeper sides to increase the carry distance as the ball comes down. In addition to overall improvement to ball flight and distance this new design also helps long iron shots stop more quickly.

The distinction between TP models of previous versions has be maintained for 2021 with the TP5 having a softer feel and more spin around the greens. The TP5x is longer than the TP5 but this year the cover is softer to help on scoring shots.

TaylorMade says their staff pros on Tour often switch between the two depending on the course and whether they want a ball with higher spin or one with more distance. The TP5 and TP5x also are available with the pix option used on Tour by Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff called ClearPath Alignment that enhances visual feedback to ensure the ball is aimed on the correct putting line.

In the announcement Michael Fox, Category Director for Golf Balls was quoted, “Since 2017, we have blazed a path to distance and speed with TP5/TP5x – building upon a foundation of Tour-proven performance with the patented five-layer system at its core. With the development of HFM in 2019 and now the Tour Flight Dimple Pattern, we’ve examined every component of the golf ball to ensure that each layer is functioning at its highest possible level and working in unison to deliver unmatched performance on every shot.”

Pricewise the TP5/TP5x are $5 per dozen more than the 2019 version but competitively are the same price as the 2021 Titleist ProV1/V1x. Callaway’s entry in this, the high end of the ball market, is the 2020 Chrome Soft/Chrome Soft X at $48 per dozen.

Tour Edge Exotics 721 Driver

The two panels of carbon fiber in the crown that wrap around on to the sole of the Tour Edge Exotics C721 driver straddle a titanium center ridge lower the center of gravity and help make the face built with 43 diamond-shaped areas more responsive.

WYNTK:
Tour Edge has introduced some interesting features in the Exotics 721 driver that according to the company makes it their most advanced driver ever.

The crown is designed with what they call Ridgeback Technology consisting of a titanium center ridge running from front to rear with “Carbon Wings” on either side. These panels of carbon fiber wrap around from the crown and become a large portion of the sole. Since carbon fiber is much lighter than titanium a lot of weight is saved, and the center of gravity is lowered helping both ball launch and forgiveness. On the interior of the titanium face there are 43 diamond shapes that provide seven different thicknesses across the entire hitting area, the effect of which the company describes as minitrampolines. Face thickness at the perimeters is 20% less than the previous model and this helps to retain ball speed when impact is not in the center.

The Exotics 721 has a 10-gram rear sole weight to shift weight back and lower which improves head stability (MOI) while helping produce lower spin plus along with the face at least in part compensates for off-center hits. Players will also like the optional 5-, 15- and 18-gram sole weights for precise fitting.

“With Exotics 721, we have forged a new path to optimal performance, power and feel for the vast majority of golfers,” said Tour Edge founder and President David Glod. “The key is utilizing more carbon fiber than we have ever used, about 20% more on the driver and fairway with these awesome Carbon Wings that surround our new Ridgeback tech, and our first ever carbon crown hybrid. We also have upgraded our Diamond Face tech to Diamond Face 2.0 that has doubled the amount of interweaving variable thicknesses and an extreme thinning of the face to create more power and forgiveness at the extreme perimeters.”

Continuing their idea of swing speed calibrated shafts, the Exotics 721 was robot tested to determine the proper stock shaft for a range of swing speeds from less than 85 mph to over 105 mph.

The Exotics 721 family of metalwoods includes fairway woods ($250) and hybrids ($220) using similar construction.

Bernhard Langer Joins Tour Edge Professional Staff on a Multi-Year Deal

Today Tour Edge announced that Bernhard Langer, the #1 ranked player on the PGA Tour Champions, has joined its professional Tour staff in a multiyear agreement.

Langer recently played a Tour Edge Exotics EXS Pro Hybrid at the November Masters that helped the age-defying legend become the oldest player to make the cut in Masters history.

In addition to his hybrids, Langer is working extensively with the company’s Tour Department to dial-in the specs on the new Tour Edge Exotics driver, fairway metals and a complete set of Exotics irons and wedges.

“I’m extremely excited to be joining the Tour Edge staff, they have been truly incredible to work with as I start updating my equipment,” said Langer. “I have been playing many of the clubs in my bag for a long time and when I started working with Tour Edge out on the PGA Tour Champions, I realized that they were the best option to getting me exactly what I needed to continue to perform at the highest level.”

Langer will also be carrying a Tour Edge Exotics staff bag and wearing the Tour Edge logo on his right sleeve.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun working with this team on maximizing performance and getting into some of their really innovative technology, as well as helping to promote the brand with the other players on Team Tour Edge by bringing their message to the masses in a series of new television spots,” added Langer.

Langer will officially make his Tour Edge Staff debut at the PGA Tour Champions Cologuard Classic in Tucson February 25th.

“To be able to sign this awe-inspiring icon to our professional staff is a crowning achievement in our 35 years as a golf brand,” said Tour Edge President and founder David Glod. “He’s one of the very best players to ever play the game, so to have him trust Tour Edge to keep him at the top is something we are extremely proud of.”

Langer is a 2-time Masters Champions, a 45-time winner on the PGA and European Tours and a 41-time winner on the PGA Tour Champions, including 11 major championships. He’s also played on 10 Ryder Cup teams and was the captain of the victorious European team in 2004.

“We’ve admired Bernhard for many years so to be able to start working with him has been an amazing and humbling experience,” said Glod. “He is a shining example of what a professional should be, a great gentleman and global ambassador to our sport. We believe this signing will introduce a lot of Bernhard Langer fans around the world to Tour Edge.”

Langer will join the Tour Edge professional staff that includes Tom Lehman, Scott McCarron, Tim Petrovic and Duffy Waldorf, and the company reports that it will announce another addition to their professional staff in the coming weeks.

Despite only having five professionals on their tour staff currently, over 100 different PGA Tour players have played over 1,000 Tour Edge clubs in the last three seasons.

Calvert Crossing Golf Club: A Family-Friendly Country Club Atmosphere

Calvert Crossing Golf Club is a private golf club located in the Calvert Estates community of West Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, and is one of the best conditioned private golf courses west of Monroe. This 18-hole championship golf course was co-designed by the late Tim Zimmerebner and Jack Nicklaus protégé, John Floyd, and has been carved through the rolling hills of Calhoun. It is considered by members and visitors to offer not only a challenging round of golf but also a serene and pleasant walk in the woods.

From the back tees, Calvert Crossing plays 6.807 yards, with a course rating of 73.2 and a slope of 141. There are five sets of tees, with the Reds playing 4,856 (68.6/119). I found the Blue Tees (6,390/71.1/133) offered a great challenge and still allowed me to leave with a little bit of dignity!

The first hole at Calvert Crossing starts you off with a 548-yard par 5 which, for the average golfer, is not going to be reachable in two and for many golfers, it’s going to take driver out of your hands off the tee. There’s a reachable pond on the left side that comes out into the fairway and woods to the right, leaving only a thin sliver of the fairway past the water. If you’re playing the course for the first time as I was, you’ll find that the aforementioned pond creeps back into play in front of the green. Laying up short of the pond will leave about a 100-yard shot into a relatively flat green protected by a bunker on the right and a lot of mounding around it. Par is always a good way to start!

If you haven’t played here before, you’ll find the par 4, 4th hole rather interesting. Standing on the tee, it’s hard to tell if the hole goes right or left. I guessed right so naturally, it went left. Something less than a driver is a good idea off the tee as the hole plays only 339 yards. Find the fairway off the tee and you’ll have a short pitch shot into an elevated green protected by sand and water on the right and a lot of mounding on the left.

Stand on the 6th green and looking back towards the tee box and you’ll get a good idea of the elevation changes. The hole starts from an elevated tee box with a creek running across the fairway at the bottom of the hill. For most players, the creek won’t come into play. If it does, you may want to consult Head Golf Professional Stuart Martin in the pro shop and ask him how you can get more distance off the tee! A good drive will leave an uphill approach shot into the green protected on the left side by sand.

The back nine starts with a couple of risk/reward par 4s. Number 10 is a 342-yard  par 4 that plays considerably downhill. It’s a dogleg right and is drivable for many players and although there are woods on either side, the reward greatly outweighs the risk. General Manager and Superintendent Kevin LaFontaine’s favorite hole is Number 11, another drivable par 4 that’s a slight dogleg right with a deep gully in front of the green.

Number 12 is an interesting par 3 that plays from an elevated tee box to an elevated green. Your tee shot is over water to a long narrow green with a long narrow bunker on the left. We’ll call this hole “Long and Narrow,” it seems to fit the theme.

Number 13 may well be the most challenging par 4 on the course. It’s a short dogleg left and everything off the tee moves to the right and into the woods. It’s a tight driving hole so you may want to consider something less than driver off the tee, just to keep the ball in play. There’s a fairway bunker about 50 yards short of the green on the left side and a deep greenside bunker on the left side. End the hole with the same ball you started with and you have accomplished something.

Before your round, warm up on Calvert Crossing’s full-length driving range where you can hit every club in the bag. Stroke a few putts on the practice putting green before heading to the first tee.

The Clubhouse is the center of all things social at Calvert Crossing.  Inside you’ll find a fully-stocked golf pro shop, The Gathering Place, a pub-style grill room and bar, locker rooms, and a ballroom. The clubhouse is where everyone gathers for golf tournaments, family events, and themed dinner nights.

The Gathering Place is the Calvert Crossing’s warm and inviting pub-style restaurant. Here you can enjoy a full breakfast menu as well as innovative salads, freshly prepared burgers, and sandwiches that will satisfy everyone. When things get back to “normal” members can get back to enjoying Calvert Crossing’s fabulous Sunday Southern Buffet with an incredible array of southern favorites. At The Gathering Place, you’ll find a sense of camaraderie that can’t be found anywhere else.

The scenic views, rolling hills, manicured fairways, and shimmering creeks you’ll find at Calvert Crossing Golf Club make the perfect backdrop for weddings and special events. They can accommodate up to 200 guests, but it is also perfect for smaller more intimate gatherings and is the perfect venue for wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, baby showers, or holiday parties. Calvert Crossing’s event team can help plan your event and select a menu that compliments your style and budget. They work with some of the best vendors in the area when it comes to flowers, wedding cakes, photography, music, and more.

As a member of Calvert Crossing, you’ll find a lot more to do than play a round on an exceptional golf experience. You’ll have access to the club’s hard surface tennis courts, the outdoor swimming facility, and unique social calendar. The Club’s swimming facility is the perfect place for a leisurely swim or spending time with the family. There’s an outdoor swimming pool, sunning deck, and changing area. The outdoor pool is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Calvert Crossing is managed by Honours Golf which is part of Troon Golf, the #1 golf management company in the United States. As a member of a Troon-managed facility, you’ll have access to over 250 Troon-managed private clubs, resorts, and daily fee facilities around the world. No matter where you go within the Troon network, you’ll be treated like family with access to all amenities and discounts on things like entertainment and car rental. It’s the biggest upside of joining a Troon-managed facility. Some of the facilities within driving distance include Reunion Golf & Country Club in Madison, MS; Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club and Craft Farms in Gulf Shores, AL, and NorthRiver Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Calvert Crossing’s goal is to be the premier family-oriented private club in the West Ouachita Parish of Louisiana. They offer a variety of membership plans for families, couples, singles, young executives, seniors, and local businesses. Seminole Lake Country Club – A Tampa Bay Favorite Since 1962

Seminole Lake Country Club has a long and storied history. Back in 1911, William Cunningham moved his family to the St Petersburg area from Fletcher, North Carolina. The Cunninghams opened a hardware and grocery store on Central Avenue that from all indications was very successful. In the early 1930’s William’s son Howard was able to purchase a 300-acre piece of property west of St. Petersburg with some of the profits from their successful business ventures.  The property was named Pine Ridge Farm and became a working cattle ranch with all of the family members contributing to its operation. Because it was a long way from their home in the city the family members used the farm as a getaway. What’s left of that old family cabin can be seen on the property just west of the current clubhouse.

Fast forward to the 1960s. The Cunningham brothers – Gene, Book, and Doc -are approached by a local real estate developer, who convinces them to convert the cattle ranch into a housing development and country club. In 1962, Seminole Lake Country Club Estates was born and within a short period of time, the Cunningham brothers regained control of the property.

As the community flourished, the club acquired a reputation as one of the premier country clubs in Florida. Membership had a waiting list and the members had an active social events calendar. The club hosted several of the premier events in the Tampa Bay area during this time and for over four decades the club remained a successful private club. Renovations followed; the clubhouse in 2002 and the golf course in 2007, including the resurfacing of all greens, refurbishing the bunkers, and the addition of a complete practice facility. Although these improvements were well received by the members, the economic downturn in 2008 led to a severe decline in membership.

In 2009, Seminole Lake Country Club became a semi-private club and to this day remains one of the favorites of golfers throughout the Tampa Bay area. Coincidentally, membership has grown due to the course’s consistently good conditioning, playability, and service level. The club is still owned by the Cunningham family and there’s still that same friendly feel as it was when the brothers opened the club in 1962.

Seminole Lake Country Club is located on the banks of Long Bayou and Cross Bayou and is one of only a handful of courses in Florida that features SeaDwarf Seashore Paspalum grass on the tees, fairways, and greens. Paspalum is one of the most versatile turfgrasses out there, it’s tolerant to various mower heights as well as salt. Its upright growth habit allows golf balls to sit up in the rough and fairways. It also produces a firm and fast putting surface that has a lot less grain than traditional Florida Bermuda greens. If I have a choice of what turf to play on, Paspalum is the clear winner!

The length at Seminole Lake is not going to overwhelm most players.  This par 71 golf course was designed by Chic Adams, and plays 6,501 yards from the back tees, with a course rating of 72.1 and a slope of 133. Five sets of tees provide an enjoyable experience for golfers of all abilities. They also have a great practice facility too, with a recently renovated driving range, a complete short game practice area with a bunker, and two large putting greens. The majority of the fairways are very wide and generous off the tee. The Paspalum greens are also large and receptive with great undulation and contouring.

The course has plenty of doglegs and like most Florida courses, plenty of water; each hole has its own unique character.  Bunkers are strategically placed throughout the course and water hazards come into play on nearly every hole. With the Gulf of Mexico nearby, birdlife is abundant and a family of bald eagles has claimed residency on the property. Look for them as you make your way around the course.

Seminole Lake has several holes that will stick in your memory for a while. My favorite par 3s are the two on the backside: Number 10 and Number 16. These two holes are very similar. They both play slightly uphill, feature a water hazard that needs to be carried off the tee, and are well protected by bunkers. They both play similar distances too – 175 and 173 yards from the Blue Tees, respectively.

My favorite par 4 is Number 6 which plays 337 yards from the White tees. It’s a tight driving hole, with water on both sides and a narrow landing area. Move back to the Black Tees (368 yards) and the tee shot is downright scary! Launch a long tee shot right and you’re most likely in the houses. Success off the tee on this dogleg right will leave a short iron or wedge into a relatively flat green, protected with sand on both sides. Take a par and run!

The Members’ favorite Par 5 is Number 12, a 485-yard slight dogleg left. It’s another interesting driving hole, especially if you’re long off the tee! Beware of the water down the left side and the creek that crosses the fairway about 295 yards from the tee. Playing your tee shot down the right side will leave the best angle into the green and give you the best chance to get on in two. The left side is a lot tougher as you will have to shape a long approach shot around an old oak tree that sits about 180 yards out from the green and over a pond in front of the left side of the green. If you decide to layup short of the green there is a trio of palm trees in the middle of the fairway 65 yards short of the green. A single bunker guards the right side of the green. Good scores can be had here!

Holes 17 and 18 are two of the best finishing holes in the area. Seventeen is a 404-yard par 4, dogleg right and requires a pretty good drive to reach the corner of the dogleg to have a clear shot into the green. The water on the right off the tee shouldn’t be a factor. Success off the tee will leave a mid to long-iron into a large, elevated green protected on the right side with a large bunker.

The finishing hole is a straight 352-yard par 4 with all kinds of trouble on the right side. The water on the right side starts about 76 yards from the tee and stretches for about 160 yards, plus there’s a bunker in the landing area about 200 yards off the tee on the right side as well. A good tee shot that favors the left side is best and will leave a short iron or wedge into the green, which is protected front right by a bunker. Par (or better) is always a great way to finish.

Seminole Lake Country Club offers several membership options including Full Memberships which entitle you to all of the club’s amenities (golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool, kayak launch, clubhouse, and member-only social functions), Golf Memberships, Tennis Memberships, Seasonal Memberships for both golf and tennis, and Social Memberships. Dues are quite reasonable.

Last Word: Pay attention to the yardages, a lot of the par 4 doglegs look longer than they are. Hitting something less than driver off the tee will prevent you from hitting it through the fairway and out of bounds and incurring penalty strokes. The course is a lot of fun to play and although the parking lot might be full when you arrive, play moves right along. We played on a Saturday afternoon in a little more than 4 hours. For more information on Seminole Lake Country Club or to book your next round, give them a call at (727) 391-6255 or visit them online at www.seminolelake.net.

FootJoy Launches The Premiere Series of Golf Shoes

Although the PGA Merchandise Show didn’t physically come to the Orlando Convention Center this year, many manufacturers, buyers and media met online. I had a chance to preview the new offerings from many of the golf companies during my new unique experience. One that stood out is the exceptionally sharp looking Premiere golf shoes from FootJoy.

FootJoy shoes have been trusted by more professional golfers than any other brand through an uncompromising commitment to innovation, quality, unrivaled design and a single-minded focus on performance. In fact, FootJoy has been the #1 shoe on the PGA TOUR for 75 consecutive years, an impressive streak in any sport.
That same pioneering spirit continues today driving FootJoy to elevate the standard of performance and style in golf footwear. As part of their continued brand innovation, they are excited to introduce The Premiere Series, a modern representation of the classic golf shoe. Designed in collaboration with several PGA TOUR players, The Premiere Series will feature three new upper designs inspired by the past but made relevant for today’s play. Influenced by the discerning taste of the modern golfer, each collection uses soft, supple premium leather uppers and ultra-lightweight materials, as well as exquisite detailing that delivers modern classic styling.
The TARLOW
The Tarlow collection is inspired by Bill and Dick Tarlow who bought FootJoy in 1957 and focused the brand primarily on golf. The Tarlow collection, a modern interpretation of the timeless cap toe design, uses a natural grain leather in the vamp and quarter complemented by a coordinated croc print in the heel, cap toe and eye stay. The midsole has a natural leather welt and contrasting stitch.
The PACKARD
The Packard collection is inspired by Frederich Packard, FootJoy’s founder and a shoe pioneer who drove the adoption of many modern manufacturing and design innovations still employed today. The Packard collection features exquisite detailing and a pebble grain leather in both the vamp and quarter. It uses a calfskin croc print accent in the saddle area complemented by a natural leather welt and contrast stitching.
The FLINT
Inspired by Perley Flint, a young Harvard graduate and avid golfer, who designed FootJoy’s first golf shoe in the 1920s. The Flint collection is clean and refined. Smooth ChromoSkin leather is used in the upper, highlighted by a nice embossed detailing in the saddle area with a refined
FJ ornament as well as nice piping on the side. Inside the shoe, you will find new premium lambskin linings and a nice fitbed for exceptional comfort.
While timeless in design, The Premiere Series is infused with performance, led by the all-new VersTrax+ outsole. This revolutionary anti-channeling tread pattern is engineered to provide outstanding grip for any lie or angle with complete total traction coverage, reducing slippage.
“We saw a terrific opportunity to completely reinvent the classically inspired golf shoe from the ground up,” said Chris Tobias, Vice President of FJ Footwear. “And to accomplish that, we leveraged every ounce of innovation as well as direct input from the world’s best players, to deliver the next level of performance with a distinctly modern take on our classic design.”
The Premiere Series also delivers on comfort, featuring an Ortholite EcoPlush Fitbed that provides perimeter stability in the heel as well as
supersoft and comfortable custom underfoot cushioning.
Those looking to design their own golf shoe The Premiere Series will be available on MyJoys.com.  Create custom shoes with millions of possible
combinations of colors, prints, laces and more, available for men and women in both laced and Boa.

Srixon Introduces ZX4 Irons

SRIXON®, a global leader in golf equipment innovation, announces the launch of the all-new ZX4 Irons, a fully hollow, face-forged iron set that brings forgiveness to the Srixon irons family. The ZX4 Irons officially launch in North America on March 5, 2021.
The new ZX4 irons are a fully hollow set created to bring forgiveness to the Srixon iron lineup while maintaining the brand’s signature look and forged feel. The iron’s sharp address view and mid-sized profile give them a palatable shape, while their technologies produce exceptional performance.
Hollow from short to long iron, ZX4 irons give you the freedom to strike the ball across the face while still enjoying high shots that launch straight and find their targets. Premium, high-density tungsten in the base of ZX4’s long and mid irons lowers their centers of gravity significantly, producing a high-launch profile. A forged HT1770 Steel face is strong and light, increasing face-flex at impact for enhanced speed and distance. And a 431 Steel body absorbs vibrations for softer feel.
ZX4 also feature Srixon’s new MainFrame technology, a one-of-a-kind face design that increases ball speed on every shot. Milled into the backside of each ZX4 face, MainFrame is a variable thickness pattern made up of grooves, channels, and cavities. This pattern maximizes COR for more ball speed and enhanced distance. The engineering team used artificial intelligence and machine learning to develop the unique face pattern, with computers running thousands of simulations before settling on the fastest design.
The unique Tour V.T. Sole gives ZX4 smoother turf interaction and improved impact feel. The V-shaped sole glides smoothly through turf, even if you strike slightly behind the ball.
Like all ZX irons, ZX4 also feature the resurgence of Srixon’s popular sole notches. Revered by professional tour players, these heel and toe notches enhance iron workability without sacrificing forgiveness.
“The new Srixon ZX4 irons mark a new revolution in forgiveness for Srixon,” says Dustin Brekke, Director of Engineering at Srixon. “The irons include a fully hollow construction with wide soles for getting the center of gravity extremely low and providing maximum forgiveness from the turf. The ZX4 irons accomplish this in addition to MainFrame technology, Tour V.T. Soles, tungsten weighting, and the look and feel expected with Srixon ZX irons.”
Key Innovations Inside ZX4 Irons:
  • MainFrame – A variable thickness pattern made up of grooves, channels, and cavities. This pattern maximizes COR for more ball speed and enhanced distance.
  • Hollow Construction – Hollow in every loft, ZX4 delivers higher shots that launch straight and stay on target.
  • Tour V.T. Sole – Smoother turf interaction and improved impact feel help the V-shaped sole glides smoothly through turf.
  • Tungsten Weighting – High-density tungsten in the base of ZX4’s long and mid irons lowers their centers of gravity significantly to deliver high, easy launches.
  • Face Forged – A forged HT1770 Steel face is strong and light, increasing face-flex at impact for enhanced speed and Srixon’s signature iron feel.

Zero Friction Introduces New CopperFlex Golf Glove To Reduce Pain, Fatigue

One of the most important aspects of playing golf is the connection between the hands and the golf club. Yet, a golfer’s hands are often the most neglected part of the body when it comes to pain control.
That’s where Zero Friction’s new CopperFlex Golf Glove comes into play. Zero Friction, maker of high quality, technologically advanced products for golfers worldwide, recently introduced this unique glove that serves two purposes.

Like all the other models in the Zero Friction glove line, it performs extremely well in its main function, helping the golfer maintain a comfortable and consistent grip on the club throughout the swing. Secondly, the copper that is infused in key points of the glove helps reduce hand fatigue, joint pain, stiffness and soreness. The glove is also effective in soothing arthritic hands.

“CopperFlex has been developed to enhance play for those players that have hand fatigue and soreness,” said Zero Friction Founder John Iacono. “Copper is also a natural antimicrobial and decreases the spread of bacteria.”

Like the rest of the Zero Friction line, the CopperFlex is a universal fit glove that molds to your hand for a guaranteed fit. The palm side is made of 100 percent Cabretta, adding durability and comfort. A leather finger patch is engineered around the first finger to improve the grip of the club. It comes in three colors: black, white and gray.

The true advantage of the Zero Friction glove line for retailers is that the universal fit means shops do not have to carry a huge inventory of sizes. Instead, the shops can offer a large selection of colors.
Zero Friction also benefits golf shops with a creative selection of packaging, including the SuperTubes, which received the 2018 ING Industry Honors Product Ingenuity award for its packaging of a color-matched glove, Spectra™ distance golf balls and tees.

Zero Friction has logo capabilities including logo balls, gloves, and tees, which have experienced significant growth this past year. Licensed gloves and Supertubes featuring NFL, MLB, NHL and the top 20 collegiate teams will also have a dedicated section.

Zero Friction recently entered the golf laser rangefinder segment in a big way with its Zero Friction Laser Pro and Laser Pro SM products. And like most Zero Friction products, this one has a unique element that separates it from the competitors.

Both Zero Friction Laser Pro models come with a pistol shape rubber handle grip, making it very simple to get yardage for your next shot. Simply aim and click, and the exact distance appears on an easy-to-read LCD display magnified X6.

Spin Skin urethane coating
FastLayer Core
White or yellow
Launch date February 26, $42.99 dozen

WYNTK:
The familiar Z-Star series from Srixon is now in its seventh iteration and retains the distinction between the Z-Star and Z-Star XV.

The Z-Star is softer, lower compression, and is higher spinning around the greens for those critical scoring shots than the Z-Star XV but expect the mid to high trajectory XV to be longer than its stablemate. Srixon says each have low spin off the driver and both use Srixon’s FastLayer Core which, if you are not familiar with it, is softest in the center becoming firmer towards the edge.

“The new Z-STAR and Z-STAR XV golf balls are specifically designed for better players and they feature advanced technology to add performance from tee to green,” said Jeff Bunski, Vice President of Research and Development. “The Z-STAR XV is played by some of the longest hitters on professional Tours around the world, and this new generation features a reformulated inner core to add even more distance. The new Z-STAR produces the highest green-side spin of any ball in our line-up, thanks to its super soft urethane cover and Spin Skin coating.”

A New Era in Lightweight Golf Footwear – Adidas ZG21

Today’s golfers demand a lot from their golf shoes, and Adidas, the #1 in sports apparel, kept hearing that there was something missing from theirs. Whether it was one of their TOUR Professionals or an everyday golfer, they all wanted the same thing, a high-performance spiked shoe that was lightweight and comfortable. The shoe guys at Adidas took that as a challenge to not only fill the void that players wanted, but also create something exciting that would stand alone at the top and launch a whole category of spiked footwear.

After nearly two years, multiple prototypes, configurations, and infusing their latest technologies to get everything right, they are introducing a shoe that ushers in a new era of performance golf footwear for Adidas- the ZG21. It’s their 2021 offering that gives golfers of all skill levels a high-performance spiked shoe that’s lightweight with zero compromises.
ZG21 is the lightest spiked footwear model to feature BOOST cushioning. It is up to 20% lighter than comparable models and significantly lighter than competitors’ golf shoes. But just being lighter isn’t enough!
“ZG21 is truly a breakthrough feat in spiked footwear,” said Masun Denison, Global Footwear Director at Adidas Golf. “We were able to combine the latest and greatest materials, innovations, and manufacturing processes without sacrificing anything. It changes the game for those who love spiked footwear.”
Beyond the clean, fast and sleek design, ZG21 is packed with new technology:
Lightstrike-a first in golf, this cushioning is 40% lighter than any EVA foam in the market while also providing shock absorption and quick recovery, perfect for golf where stability through the swing is critical. It’s been used in other sports categories like basketball and tennis, and when coupled with their BOOST cushioning, gives players lightweight comfort and stability with every swing and step.
Sprintskin-a lightweight and waterproof (1-year warranty) four-layer upper that combines innovative textiles and polyurethane films for breakthrough performance.
Ultra-Light Stability Fin-a new lightweight and durable TPU insert created in the lateral sidewall that offers increased lateral stability and a locked-in-feel thought the swing.
Swingplane Traction-inspired by heat-map studies and running from heel to toe, Adidas places the maximum amount of traction and targets areas where it is needed most.
The new ZG21 outsole features an ultra-thin TPU construction, six strategically placed soft cleats, and a new crescent moon-shaped secondary lug to optimize grip, support and performance while ultimately reducing weight.
ZG21 will come in four models: men’s laced, men’s and women’s BOA, and a simplified laced offering for junior golfers. The two BOA models feature the new BOA-Fit SYSTEM,  a ‘Y’ strap design that’s a first in the sport and provides an even higher level of performance. The configuration wraps around the foot, creating a secure fit over the instep and provides flexibility and freedom in the toe box. The men’s ZG21 BOA is also the first golf shoe on the market to feature Li2-a sleek, low profile dial platform that modulates tension when and where needed with enhanced speed and effortless execution.
AL ZG21 models are available exclusively at Adidias.com/us/golfshoes and the adidas app starting at select retailers.

PUMA Pop Top Mini Bluetooth Speaker – Small Footprint. Big Sound.

Music seems to be the latest trend in the golf industry; companies are popping up left and right with new Bluetooth speaker offerings. Not to be left out, PUMA has introduced their new Pop Top Mini Speaker, a small yet rich speaker with a few added features.

In creating the Pop Top Mini Speaker, PUMA partnered with Speaqua Sound Company. This compact, waterproof/ dustproof/ shockproof speaker also has a bottle opener and ball marker. Multiple speakers can be paired together so that the entire group here’s the same music (or game). The 5-hour battery life should last long enough to get you around the course and at a mere $40, it’s a sound investment! PUMA has always been a trendsetter in the golf industry – the new Pop Top Mini Speaker just solidifies this. It’s available in either Black or White! +/- 2° adjustable hosel
Stock shafts: Fujikura Motore X, Project X EvenFlow Riptide, Project X HZRDUS

WYNTK:
Mizuno’s latest drivers have a face forged from an exotic titanium alloy containing vanadium, aluminum and tin mounted on a titanium body specifically constructed with carbon fiber crown and sole panels to provide the desired performance for different skill level players.

The ST-X with a carbon sole panel towards the toe and weighting towards the heel has a strong draw bias which can help those fighting a slice. The head has more depth than the ST-Z and the profile is smaller. In addition, there is J-Spec (Japan Specification) variant for those with lower swing speeds that comes with a very light 39-gram MFusion shaft. Higher swing speed golfers such as Tour players will appreciate the low-spin high-stability design of the ST-Z with its carbon sole panels toe and heel.

Mizuno’s Chris Voshall, “The ST-Z’s predecessor – the ST200 – had a reputation for being a straight-line bomber favored by our longer hitting tour players, and the ST-Z profile is no different. But with an extra year’s extra experience engineering the Forged Beta SAT2041 Ti, we were able to release a little extra ball speed and a much more satisfying experience off the clubface.”

Both models use the Wave Sole Plate behind the face to increase flex at impact for more ball speed.
