Callaway Golf Apparel continues to make strides and rise up the ranks of being recognized as a top-notch golf apparel company. Certainly Danny Willett’s victory at the Masters will go a long way in helping their cause.
With their 2016 Spring golf apparel collection, Callaway Golf continues with their Opti-Series of apparel technology:
Opti-Dri – which wicks moisture away from the body, keeping you drier aiding in evaporation.
Opti-Stretch – interwoven layers of Spandex to ensure maximum range of motion so the garment moves with the golf swing.
Opti-Shield – Provides UPF 50+ protection from the sun’s harmful rays.
Opti-Therm – Fabrics that are designed to keep the cold out and the warmth in.
Opti-Soft – Fabric designed for ultimate comfort and performance.
We had the opportunity to review some pieces from the Spring 2016 Collection. Here’s what we saw:
The technology in the Men’s Golf Performance Flat Front Tech Pants is what separates Callaway’s golf pants from all the others on the market. It’s loaded with Opti-Features including Opti-Dri, Opti-Shield and Opti-Stretch which combine to keep you dry, fully mobile and protected from the sun. The two front pockets are cut at a slant, making it easier to dig around inside and the back pockets are big enough for most scorecards and yardage books without wadding them all up. The material is a 95/5 blend of polyester and Spandex and the expandable waistband is a nice feature; especially after that tournament’s buffet dinner. The Callaway Chevron Logo can be found above back right pocket. Although I prefer to wear shorts most of the time, these Flat Front Tech Pants have become my go-to pair when the weather dictates. The Golf Performance Flat Front Tech Pants are available in waist sizes 30-44 and in several colors: Caviar, Chinchilla, Quiet Shade and Silver Lining. They are priced low at $70.
Callaway’s Men’s 1/4″ Zip Waffle Fleece Pullover was designed with cold weather in mind. It uses their Opti-Therm technology which provides a layer of thermal comfort while playing in cold weather. The 100% polyester shell is lined with a waffle fleece-like material throughout the entire garment, so it will keep you warm all over and it zips all the way up the mock collar so you can keep the warmth in. With the Callaway logo and Chevron on the chest and left arm, everyone will know whose brand you’re wearing. The Callaway Men’s 1/4″ Zip Waffle Fleece Pullover is available in sizes S-3XL and in several colors including High Rise Heather, Bright White, Castlerock Heather, Buff Yellow Heather, Palace Blue Heather and Tango Red Heather. Retail price is $65.
When I first saw the Men’s Performance Colorblocked Golf Polo, I thought to myself, “It looks way too heavy for Florida in the summer.” From a distance, this polo looks like it is made from a high-gauge jersey fabric; thankfully for us southerners, it’s not. What the Performance Colorblocked Polo is made of is a fabric with several Callaway technologies: Opti-Dri to keep you dry and Opti-Shield to keep you protected from the sun. Opti-Stretch keeps the fabric moving with you throughout your swing. Vented fabric in the armpit areas aids in keeping you dry and odor free too. The three-button placket and contrasting ribbed collar add a nice touch and the Callaway logo with Chevron on the chest and left sleeve leave no doubt as to the brand’s identity. It’s is what you want to be wearing on those summer days when you need to stay cool in the hot sun. The Performance Colorblocked Polo is available in several color combinations including High Rise and Gray and in sizes S-2XL. Retail price was $70, but I’ve seen it in several places for under $50.
Women can add a little bit of elegance to their golf wardrobe with the Golf Performance Paisley Print Polo. This caviar colored polo features a red and white paisley print running down the right side giving it a look that is sure to turn some heads. But it’s much more than a great looking polo, it’s packed with performance features too. Opti-Dri, Opti-Shield and Opti-Stretch technologies keep you calm, cool, connected and protected throughout the golf swing. The zippered placket and color is tipped with white as are the cuffs and the ladies will love it for its easy care: machine wash cold and tumble dry. The Callaway Chevron is heat-sealed on the middle of the back collar. The Paisley Print Polo is available in sizes XS-XL and has a retail price of $70. It looks great with their Golf Performance 17″ Knit Skort.
Speaking of which, what could be better than a piece of golf apparel that helps you look your best? Callaway’s Golf Performance 17″ Knit Skort with Tummy Control does just that. The slimming Power mesh paneling provides unrivaled comfort and when you add in the Opti-Stretch technology, this slimming garment doesn’t pinch or bind during the swing. With Opti-Dri, moisture is wicked away quickly and Opti-Shield provides UPF 50 protection from the sun’s harmful rays. There are two front seam pockets and one back pocket with the Callaway Chevron embroidered above it. It’s easy to care for too; just machine wash warm and tumble dry. The Golf Performance 17″ Knit Skort with Tummy Control is available in sizes XS-XL and in several colors including Bright White, Caviar, Peacoat and Tango Red. Retail price is $65. Pair this with the Paisley Print Polo and you have a Callaway outfit that is sure to turn the heads of both men and women.
The Women’s Full-Zip Wind Jacket looks so good, you’d expect to see LPGA professionals wearing it. Oh wait, they do! The 100% polyester shell is lined with polyurethane to keep the wind out and your body heat in. The ruching on the back adds a feminine touch and creates a slimming effect for the female figure. There’s a silver Chevron on the back of the neck and a large Callaway logo on the left chest, in case you forget what jacket you’re wearing. The Full-Zip Wind Jacket is available in sizes XS-XL and in Black, White and Mykonos Blue. Retail price is $65.
Callaway has certainly raised the bar this season with their 2016 Spring Collection. The women’s pieces are spiced up with things like paisley prints and tummy control fabrics, while the men’s collection has added several bright and vibrant colors and patterns.
