footwearTaking advantage of new technology is a smart thing to do. Unfortunately, when it comes to golf equipment, technology changes so often that it can get downright expensive. But technology isn’t just limited to golf equipment and golf balls, it affects everything related to golf. A lot of golf apparel companies utilize moisture wicking technology, designed to keep you dry throughout the round. Compression socks utilize technology to keep your feet comfortable and pain free. There’s even a certain brand of golf gloves that uses technology designed by hand doctors. So why not golf shoes?
Callaway women’s footwear is built to add performance from the ground up. Their new Sky Series includes three new models: the Cirrus, Playa and Halo Pro. All three are very stylish and will appeal to fashion conscious women who not only want footwear that looks good but will keep them both comfortable and connected – to the ground.

Halo Pro – Callaway engineered this women’s shoe for both serious amateurs and Tour-caliber players. It’s the perfect balance of performance, style and comfort. The Halo Pro is a complete redesign in competition golf footwear for women and is both wider and lower to the ground. Ladies will also find less toe spring, giving the shoe added traction and stability. The heel-to-toe drop has been minimized, keeping you closer to the ground to give you better position for added power transfer.

The uppers are made of Clarino Microfiber, an ultrasoft, lightweight fabric with high recovery characteristics. The shoe is soft and supple to the touch, but offers strength and durability and will support even the strongest player. The subtle leopard pattern adds to the elegance and style of the shoe.
Working our way down to the bottom of the shoe, the EVA outsole is reinforced with rubber only where needed for high performance and lightweight comfort. The Halo Pro shoes come with Callaway’s super soft and supportive Ortholite 3D insole and provides great comfort right out of the box. Each pair of Halo Pro shoes comes with a second set of shoelaces in a complimentary color as well as a 30-Day Comfort Guarantee that warrants the shoes for fit, comfort and cushioning. And, like all other Callaway Golf footwear products, there is a 1-year limited water-resistant warranty that the shoes will be free from any material or workmanship flaws that may result in water leaking into the shoes. The Halo Pro shoes retail for $99.99 and are available in either black or white.

Playa – Callaway has taken the success of their Del Mar shoes for men and created a women’s shoe that harkens back to their casual California beach roots. The lightweight EVA spikeless platform is the same as Callaway’s best-selling Solaire shoe – one of the best sellers ever in women’s golf. It too features a Clarino Microfiber upper and a low profile EVA and rubber outsole as well as Engineered Traction Spikes for outstanding spikeless grip and stability. Die-cut Ortholite insoles give the Playa shoe lightweight comfort in every step. There is also a second set of shoelaces in a complimenting color as well as a 1-year limited water-resistance warranty and a 30-day comfort guarantee. This combination of comfortable lightweight performance and style is sure to be a winner on the course or in the clubhouse. Callaway’s Playa Women’s Golf Shoes retail for $89.99 and are available in either gray/white/pink or gray/white/blue.

Cirrus – The Cirrus shoe is very lightweight and features a man-made leather upper and a Callaway Comfort Insert. The low profile EVA and rubber outsoles and all rubber traction spikes give the Cirrus a contemporary look while adding in lightweight athletic performance features designed to enhance both your golf game and your style, all at a great value. It also comes with the same limited water-resistant warranty and comfort guarantee as well as a secondary set of laces. The Cirrus Women’s Golf Shoe retails for $59.99 and are available in white/bone, white/black and white/pink.

Callaway sent FloridaGolfer.com some samples and I had several women from our local club try them out in all kinds of conditions. They had nothing but good things to say and all agreed they were more comfortable than any other shoes they own. No matter the conditions (wet, dry, soggy) or the lie (downhill, uphill and side hill) all reported that their feet stayed dry and well connected to the ground with no incidents of slippage. A couple of them received compliments on how nice the shoes looked, most notably the Halo Pro and Cirrus. All of the women indicated that Callaway will now be a consideration when looking for new golf shoes.
