Cork Tree Putter Grips – Put A Cork On it!

3057

There is little doubt that putting is the biggest part of anyone’s golf game; after all, half the strokes that make up par on a championship length course come from the putting game. As a golf professional, how well you perform this part of your golf game each weekend can make a huge difference in your weekly paycheck.
And putting is so mental. When you’re putting well, you don’t want anyone to give you any advice; you just want to be left alone to play your game. Conversely, when your putting is off, hints from anybody are worth a try.

cork-treeNo other club in the bag is gripped in more variety of ways than a putter. You’ve got the traditional (or conventional) grip, left hand low, split handed, The Claw and The Psycho; throw in belly putters and long putters and you can add a few more. Likewise, putter grips have changed too. Palmbird is a company I have seen at the PGA show in January over the past few years the past few years. I’ve never tried their grips but just by having a presence at the show a few years in a row suggests they are doing well. SuperStroke has made the largest impact with their collection of oversized grips, designed to eliminate wrist action. Any time you can get PGA Tour players winning tournaments using your equipment; it’s like money in the bank.

Cork Tree would be another such company; they offer grips made of cork leather. The company was co-founded by Nuno Nascimento and Marc Boggia. Cork Tree not only wants to increase a golfer’s confidence on the green and improve their putting statistics, they also strives to be more eco-friendly. After all, cork leather offers all of this as well as the added values of functionality, durability and quality.

Although they look a lot like SuperStroke grips, Cork Tree Grips are very unique. They are very light and provide a 100% natural tactility in a low-density grip. They are very durable and since cork is a strong, porous material, are easy clean. They also look and feel pretty cool stuck on the end of your putter. And, when it comes to putting, is anything more important than feel?

Cork Tree Putter Grips come in four models:

The Gimme Grip has a slight taper shape and is available in four colors. The Bandit Grip features a reverse taper shape allowing the lower hand to diminish unwanted hand action. The Slim Jim Grip has a Tour Taper grip shape and original cork pattern finish. The Stumpy Grip is Cork Tree’s largest and is very similar to the SuperStroke Fatso 5.0.

All grips have a retail price of $29.95 and are available in black, royal blue, black and hot pink except for the Stumpy which is only available in black. “Colors” refers to the butt end of the grip and the ferule at the bottom. They aren’t available at major golf retailers in the US yet, so you’ll have to buy them online.
