Full Swing Golf Simulators – How Real Can You Get.

2350

For more than 15 years, Full Swing Golf has been delivering a realistic, high quality simulated golf experience – indoors or out – to players around the globe. Play the likes of St. Andrews, Torrey Pines, Banff Springs and Pinehurst #2 without leaving the confines of your home or office. Install one at home and you instantly join the ranks of such as Donald Trump (no big surprise there), Richard Marriott, the President of Kazakhstan and the King of Saudi Arabia.

You could also use the Full Swing Golf Simulator to improve your game just like PGA pros Hank Haney and Ian Poulter do on a regular basis; it’s an awesome teaching tool! The simulator’s ball tracking system registers key information such as flight angle, ball speed and spin. This information is instantly displayed on the hitting screen, along with details of where the ball is, how far it is to the green, and what the conditions are. And forget about trying to hide a hook or a slice, the simulator picks that up as well. There are even several types of surfaces to hit from – everything from tight fairway lies to heavy rough and sand.

Think your belter than your friends? The Full Swing Golf Simulator can be programmed to handle just about any type of contest you can think of: everything from mano –a-mano against your best friend to a Longest Drive competition or Closest to the Pin. In fact the simulator features 18 different modes of play, including skins, alternate shot, and Ryder Cup formats.

When paired with the ION Performance Camera, the Full Swing Simulator provides a complete training and teaching solution. Utilizing a high-speed camera that focuses solely on ball spin and clubhead data, the ION Performance Cam provides detailed info on clubhead speed, clubface angle and club path information as well as intuitive on-screen illustrations of the club.

It also captures detailed spin data using regular unmarked golf balls which includes backspin, sidespin and spin axis. This allows the player to make better shot decisions while improving his or her swing.

The system’s software gives instructors driving range, chipping, and putting scenarios as well as 80 championship golf courses – of which any hole can be made into a practice facility. In addition, Swing Catalyst, another product within the Full Swing training arsenal, is a fully integrated swing analysis video system for high-resolution, slow motion swing review with drawing tools and comparison.

I visited the PGA Learning Center in Port St. Lucie Florida to experience the Full Swing Simulator and ION Performance Cam first hand. First Assistant Professional and Technology Specialist at the Learning Center Mark Drenga drew the assignment of walking my partner Rudy Trosin and myself through both products.
The knowledge Mark had of these machines was astounding and his knowledge of the golf swing was second to none. By combining his knowledge with the simulator and ION Performance Cam, we were able to do things I never dreamed possible – like hit a pitching wedge 325 yards (boost feature)!

The attention to detail on the courses is amazing. I had Mark set us up to play the Banff Springs Resort – a course I am familiar with. Elevation changes, wind direction and the way the mountains influence putting were all right on. No telling how many man hours are spent in researching each course. From the entertainment aspect, it doesn’t get any better than what Full Swing has to offer. They have several Course Packages to choose from.

From a teaching perspective this is where the combination of the simulator and the ION Performance Cam are unmatched. The data that is produced and displayed instantly provides important feedback so that more accomplished golfers can fine-tune their stroke and beginners can get a feel for what they need to work on. It was amazing that after taking a few swings in front of the simulator with a club that Mark was able provide us with important information that would lead to better shots; more distance and accuracy. All from the data provided by the ION Performance Cam.

Whether your plan is to use the Full Swing Simulator for entertainment or for learning, nothing on the market can beat it. I have heard that there are facilities up north that have installed these simulators and they are booked up well in advance throughout the cold winter months.

If you are ultra-serious about golf and plan on using the Full Swing Simulator as a training tool, I would suggest adding the ION Performance Cam. The detailed ball spin and club head information added by ION allows you to shape each shot exactly as you would outdoors. The data it provides will go a long way in helping you fulfill your dream of one day making it big!
