I spoke with the folks from Lambda Golf at the PGA Show in Orlando Florida this past January about their handcrafted leather golf shoes and they were kind enough to send me a pair. From the first time I put them on my feet I was impressed with them. Not only in the way they looked, but the fact that there was relatively no “break-in’ period to speak of. They didn’t hurt my feet at all and were quite comfortable right out of the box.
The only problem I had with the shoes was with the spikes. And believe me, it was not in any way the fault of the people at Lambda Golf. I should have known that, when you send a pair of golf shoes from Portugal to the United States, it is probably a wise idea to check the spikes and make sure they are tight before putting them on. While on the practice range for a couple of hours, I started to notice that my feet kept sliding a bit. Imagine my surprise when I looked at the soles of the shoes and found that there were seven spikes missing! Luckily, I was able to retrace my steps (basically to the range ball machine and back) and recover them all. Most leather shoes (i.e. Footjoy and Ecco) are very heavy; the Lambda shoes are light in comparison. I also can’t believe how soft they are.
Lambda golf shoes have a classic appearance, and are crafted from with fully treated water-repellent, Portuguese leather. They feature a special membrane inlay sole which absorbs force reducing the impact on knees, hips and back thus making the game more enjoyable.
They offer personalized golf shoes as part of their Imperia line, where the design is completely up to the customer. With many golf courses and resorts offering this option to members, this aspect of the golf shoe industry is becoming very popular. Their Union Jack and Canadian Maple Leaf shoes are very sharp looking. If personalized shoes are something you are interested, please contact Lambda Golf through their website for a quote.
Recommended retail prices start from around $250 USD (170 Euros). For more information, you can visit Lambda online at www.Lambda-Golf.com.
