The Oxford Golf brand of golf apparel is produced by Oxford Industries, an apparel design, sourcing and marketing company with a diverse portfolio of owned and licensed brands which include Tommy Bahama, Lilly Pulitzer, Oxford Golf and Billy London. The Oxford Golf brand is recognized as a trusted, traditional men’s and women’s apparel company. They create clothing for men and women who have come to expect only the best in quality, value and design.
For Spring 2016, The Oxford Golf line has been refreshed with new, invigorating colors and styles for both men and women. Oxford Golf features a full line of golf apparel that includes performance polos, woven shirts, bottoms, shoes, belts and outerwear. Whether you’re on the course or in the clubhouse, Oxford Golf’s Spring ’16 Collection’s got you covered.
Two of Oxford Golf’s primary technologies can be found in this collection. Drirelease and COOLMAX offer premier moisture management and have proven to be best-sellers among consumers. Both fabric technologies have been incorporated into more than just polo shirts and can now be found in shorts and other layering pieces as well.
The look has been updated this year to include such modern elements as self-collars, contrast collars and detailed stitching. The men’s collection is available in four unique color story collections – Chrysanthemum, Cadet, Ambrosia and Clearwater. Performance fabrics combined with purposeful detailing give Oxford Golf an unmistakable look.
Here’s our take on some of the pieces we saw:
The Stanton Performance Polo is made from Oxford Golf’s drirelease moisture wicking performance fabric (85% polyester/15% cotton) and is treated with their proprietary Fresh Guard technology which naturally controls odor caused by sweat. This polo features a self-collar, three button placket with Oxford’s signature logo buttons and an embroidered Oxford logo on the right sleeve. It is available in 8 beautiful heathered colors and in sizes XS-XXXL. The Stanton has a very soft and luxurious feel to it and looks a lot heavier than it really is. Retail price is $76.
The Clinton Polo has changed my feelings about polos with a pocket. The mint green (Ambrosia) color with grey contrasting self-collar, placket and welt really looks sharp. This garment is crafted from Oxford’s Coolmax/Spandex textural jacquard fabric, will bring a unique look to your foursome. The Clinton Polo has excellent moisture wicking properties and is treated with an antimicrobial agent to keep you smelling fresh throughout your round and into the night. It’s available in sizes XS-XXXL and in three colors: White, Ambrosia and Clearwater. There’s an embroidered Oxford logo on the right sleeve. Retail price is $82.
Oxford Golf’s Trinity Shorts will have people asking does his game look as good as his shorts? That’s because these plaid tech shorts provide high performance with a polished look. Crafted from a 66% Cotton/32% Polyester/2% Spandex fabric with a 9.5” inseam and fantastic moisture wicking properties, these shorts move with you; no pinching or binding at all during any part of the golf swing. The Trinity Shorts feature a sharp looking plaid design all over, a button closure and two front/two back pockets with the Oxford Golf logo over the right rear pocket and a button closure on the left rear. The front pockets are deep with the front right having a smaller pocket inside that is perfect for change and/or ball markers and tees. These might just become my favorite pair of golf shorts. They’re perfect for off the course too and pair well with the Ambrosia colored Clinton Polo. Retail price is $82.
The Spencer Belt is a multicolored, braided belt that can certainly add a bit of sizzle to any guy’s wardrobe. Sure, we guys all have the black belts and brown belts, maybe even a white belt, but not many guys have one belt that will go with a multitude of different tops and bottoms – and shoes for that matter. What’s more, the belt stretches, meaning that 36 belt will still fit after all of those Calabash Seafood buffets in Myrtle Beach on that upcoming mancation. This belt features tri-colored stretch webbing with leather trim and a brushed nickel buckle. The Spencer Belt comes in three colors: Classic Navy, Iron Gate and Feather Gray. Retail price is $69.
Although the company has been around for over 70 years, I wasn’t familiar with them until I met with them at the PGA Show this past January. After doing my due diligence on the company and learning about their other brands (Tommy Bahama, Lily Pulitzer, etc.), I expected Oxford Golf’s apparel to have the same high quality standards. Needless to say, I was not surprised. The polos and shorts that I received were of the highest quality and have a classy look. The performance materials are very lightweight; seams are double stitched and not one looked out of place. Most of the fabrics contain a small amount of Spandex, giving them added stretch throughout the golf swing. Their moisture-wicking is second to none and their antimicrobial agents keep you smelling fresh. They also offer great UPF protection from the sunlight.
As far as price points, Oxford seems to be at the low end of the luxury golf apparel category – a category they definitely deserve to be in. Oxford Golf apparel is available at many green grass golf shops as well as online golf outlets. For more information, visit their website at www.oxfordgolf.com.
