Another tire and rubber company has entered the golf space, and in a big way. South Korean-based Nexen Tire company recently purchased GolfBuddy Global and is now continuing their march into the golf space with a new golf ball line – Saintnine. Saint comes from Saint Andrews a symbol of golf tradition and authority and recognized by many as the home of golf. Nine comes from playing nine holes and has a lot better ring to it then say, Sainteighteen!  Whether you’re playing nine holes or 18, golfers enjoy the challenge, rewards and camaraderie that the sport offers. Saintnine was founded in 2012 and their goal is to be a forward-thinking company and manufacture golf balls that provide both state-of-the-art technical qualities and intriguing motivational designs to help golfers play their best.

Golf is a mental game – some say you have to be mental to play it – and some Saintnine golf balls have been pre-logoed with a graphic “mental mate,” a colorful character invoking a characteristic that can improve one’s mental game. Since the company’s motto is “Strong Mind, Strong Game,” it only makes sense that the mental mates reflect this. Traits like: Confidence, Calm, Focus, Endurance, Competitiveness, Joy, Focus, Positivity and Trust are all reflected in these logos.

Saintnine offers seven models of golf balls: Extreme Soft Gold, Extreme Soft Black, Extra Long, Extra Soft, Misty, X and Q Soft. Extreme Soft Gold is a 4-piece urethane golf ball and has a soft feel when struck. It has great spin and distance control on short shots into and around the green and also carries well with longer irons, woods and drivers. The soft core is made from a high restitution material which enhances control around green. The 336 dimple design creates an optimal airstream to ensure flight stability and carry. The inner and outer mantle are also made form a soft material which delivers a driver’s impact energy to the core without loss and provides elaborate control. They are available in White with a Mental Mate logo.

Extreme Soft Black has a softer core which offers less spin and longer distance off a driver. The soft urethane cover enhances soft feel and precision around the green. It too has a 336 dimple design for a consistent and stable flight trajectory. Extreme Soft Black balls are only available in White and carry a Mental Mate logo. Choose wisely!

Saintnine’s Extra Long golf ball has a soft elastic cover for a more improved feel and flight trajectory. Spin has been minimized for more distance off the tee and the 350 dimple design offers more control on direction and flight stability. These balls offer the ultimate in distance, performance and feel. Extra Soft has a softer feel, letting you achieve short game precision around the green with optimal spin and distance control. The soft core has excellent rebound resilience giving it a better feel and higher performance. Both the Extra Long and Extra Soft golf balls are available in Yellow, Orange and Red. Extra Long is also available in White while Extra Soft is also available in Yellow.

Misty is Saintnine’s entry into the soft matte colored golf ball market. Misty offers a soft shot feel with improved accuracy and control. The matte cover is highly visible, which is said to improve concentration. It has a mid-high ball flight and high spin. The Misty Golf Ball is available in Yellow, Green, Orange and Pink.

X could stand for Extreme, because this ball offers explosive distance thanks to a ultra-high energy ND-BR core. The HPF inner core also enhances distance and aids in spin control while the soft, thin ionomer outer core and 336 dimple design reduce air resistance and ensure a mid to high trajectory.

The Saintnine Q soft ball has the softest feel of any Saintnine ball and provides extreme accuracy and distance control on the short game when a soft touch is required.  It’s also very long off the tee because spin has been minimized thanks to a new material in the cover. The Q Soft ball is available in Yellow, Orange, Green and Pink.

It’s a sure thing that Saintnine will have a tough time breaking into the golf ball market in the US. However, when you offer a high quality product and provide a little twist such as what their Mental Mates offer, it should help in at least getting golfers to give them a try.
