Changing the Way You See the Game

There is certainly no shortage of GPS options on the market these days, so companies are going to have to look at ways to differentiate themselves from the competition.

SkyCaddie seems to be ahead of the pack when it comes to this sort of outside-the-box thinking. Their new Linx GT Golf GPS Rangefinder combines GPS with shot tracking, a natural progression given the latter is GPS-based. And, when used in conjunction with SkyCaddie’s Mobile GPS app, the Linx GT starts to pull away from the competition.

For a few minutes, forget about the shot tracking aspect of the device and focus solely on using it as a GPS. The Linx GT is pre-programmed with over 35,000 courses worldwide, courses that have personally been mapped out by SkyCaddie. That alone inspires confidence in accuracy. Out of the box, the Linx GT will give you accurate distance to the front, middle and back of each green. Now, download the app and sync your Linx GT with your smartphone. The unit pairs wirelessly with the app and, thanks to the SkyCaddie Trupoint GPS engine, the Linx GT knows your exact location on the course. You’ll have a high definition aerial view of every hole as well as layup and carry distances for hazards. Pinch the screen and the HoleVue system is activated and gives up to 40 geo-referenced targets. So, now you have the precise distance to the hole on your wrist and a bird’s eye view of what lies ahead on your smartphone. What else do you need? But wait, there’s more.

Enter SkyCaddie’s new Game Tracker Technology. Simply attach the corresponding Smart Tag into the butt end of your club and then tap the tag to the watch before each shot. Yes, it is adding a step to your pre-shot routine and yes, it does take some time to remember to do it, but in the end, it’s worth it. After you hit each shot, you will see the club you used, the direction and distance of each shot overlaid on the app’s HoleVue screen.

Personal experience tells me I am not going to remember to tag all my shots, in fact, the first time I used a shot tracking system, I recorded an 11 for the entire round. As it turns out, recorded shots are not valid when it comes to attesting one’s score. SkyCaddie has a fix for this and it’s called AutoSwing. When in AutoSwing mode, the Linx GT where you are on the course and when you may have taken a shot. This information will be available for you to access after your round so you can update your stats.
Other features of the Linx GT include:

– Digital scoring which can be uploaded to the SkyGolf 360 Cloud for post-game analysis
– Pace of play timer
– Multi-sport odometer tracks distance, speed, pace and laps. You can also set a fitness goal and track steps, calories and distance walked
– Measure shot distances
– Rechargeable battery lasts up to 12 hours in GPS mode (8 months in watch mode)

With SkyCaddie’s SkyGolf 360 Cloud, each shot is automatically synchronized in real time, so you won’t need to connect to a computer and upload your data after your round. In fact, (or unfortunately), the data you’re your round is available for friends and family to view as you play.

I think you get the idea, the Linx GT is a game changer in the GPS industry and SkyCaddie is leading the way. Everything I’ve talked about here can be purchased separately or in one package. The Linx GT watch includes a free 1-yr. SkyCaddie Linx Pro Plan costs $299.95. The Linx GT Game Tracking Edition includes the watch, 15 SmartTags and a divot tool with a SmartTag built in and the 12-month prepaid card all for $349.95 – well worth the extra $50.
