The Original Penguin – Pete’s Back, and In a Big Way!

He’s baaack! Remember Pete the Penguin? He was one of the most recognizable logos in golf apparel back in the 1960’s. That adorable little penguin gracing the chest of Munsingwear polos. There are pictures of Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer both sporting the iconic Munsingwear brand.

The brand has been brought back to life in a way that will make Pete proud. He’s in, make that on, just about everything: shorts, shorts, pants, swimwear, outerwear, you name it, Pete’s on it. The Penguin collection of golf attire features brilliant colors and patterns. The Oxford Striped Golf Polo and Engineered Stripe Golf Polo are both made from Penguin’s 52% Polyester/44% Pima Cotton/4% Spandex fabric, giving them a tighter, youthful fit – slimmer through chest and waist. The stretch in the fabric allows the garment to move with you and creates more comfort. The fabric has great moisture wicking capabilities and draws sweat away from the body, keeping you dry and comfortable throughout your round. The Oxford Striped Polo features a self-collar and three button placket and is available in sizes S – XXL and in Black Iris. The Engineered Striped Polo has a ribbed collar and three-button placket and is available in the same sizes and in either Pearl Blue or Purple Cactus Flower. Both retail for $89.

Another great looking polo from the Original Penguin is the Geo Printed Golf Polo, available in sizes S – XXL and in Pearl Blue, Purple Cactus Flower, or Black Iris. It too has a slimmer fit and all the same fabric characteristics of the other two. The 86% Polyester/14% Spandex Jersey fabric creates a lightweight and breathable shirt and the ribbed collar and three-button placket create a classic golf look. The Geo Printed Golf Polo retails for $89.

The Captain Golf Polo features a color block with horizontal stripes and contrast tipping on the ribbed collar and sleeve cuffs. The three-button placket is all golf. It’s sewn from a stretch fabric that moves with you through every phase of your golf swing. The 55% Polyester/39% Pima Cotton/6% Elastane fabric is not only soft to the touch but extremely durable and lightweight, and with great moisture wicking, it’s the perfect fabric for those hot summer days on the course. The Captain Golf Polo is available in sizes S – XXL and in either Black Iris or Flame Scarlet. Retail price is $89.

There’s also a great selection of men’s shorts and golf pants from the original penguin. They are all sewn from a fabric with considerable stretch so they’ll move with you through your golf swing. They all feature and elastic gripper waist band to keep everything in place as you move around and a no-pop snap closure which slides rather than presses. It’s designed to stay done up until further notice. The All Day Every Day Golf Short could easily become your “go to” pair. The fabric is super lightweight and the stretch allows them to move with you as you power through your golf swing. They’re a slim fit and are a little tighter through the thighs with a slim taper. Two front and two back pockets provide ample storage and can handle any size scorecard. There’s even a side seam zippered media pocket to keep your personal electronics safe and secure. The All Day Every Day Golf Shorts are available in sizes 28 – 38 and in Crystal Teal. Retail price is $79.

Pete on the Beach is available in sizes 28 – 38 and in Black Iris. They retail for $79.

The Plaid Party Golf Short lets everyone know you’ve arrived. The multicolored plaid pattern is a party waiting to happen, but best to wait until the round is over. Features like a stretch fabric with a twill fabrication you’ll stay cool and comfortable your entire round. They too are a slim fit but the stretch in the fabric compensates for that in bigger guys. With 2 front, two back and a side seam media pocket, you’ll have all the room you need for your on-course essentials…and then some. The Plaid Party Golf Short is available in sizes 28 – 38 and in either a Flame Scarlet or Black Iris color. Retail price is $95.

If pants are more your golfing style, the Plaid Party pattern is also available in a pant. The pattern alternates colors and thickness of horizontal and vertical lines, almost like a Scottish plaid. The have the same performance features as the shorts and the same pockets; in fact they’re really just a full-length pair of shorts!  These pants are available in sizes 28 – 38 with a 32” inseam and in the Black Iris color. They retail for $99.

After golf, relax in one of the Original Penguin’s many tee shirts.
