Under Armour Golf Shoes – Spieth 3 Or HOVR – Pick Your Poison

I really like the look and feel of Under Armour’s new Men’s Spieth 3 golf shoes. It’s as technologically rich as any golf shoe on the market. The  Clarino microfiber leather upper combines with an integrated lacing system to provide a secure fit, locking your foot into the shoe. The Clarino fabric is extremely breathable and durable. Under Armour’s smart-woven forefoot and heel provide lightweight biomechanically correct foot support and the Dual durometer footbed brings lateral support and medial softness that allows you to harness power during the swing.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. For enhanced cushioning that will last throughout your entire round, the Spieth 3 has a ¾ length EVA midsole and a carbon inset that has been strategically placed to create a stable hitting platform. A lightweight TPU outsole helps keep your foot grounded throughout the golf swing but perhaps the most remarkable feature of these shoes are the spikes. Two different types of spikes, just like the previous model. Spieth 3 uses both UA RST 2.0 and SoftSpike Tornado spikes. Under Armour’s Rotational Resistance spikes have a lower profile this year and work in conjunction with the Tornado spikes to deliver horizontal traction and prevent rotational slippage during the golf swing. The Tornado spikes are very green-friendly and support traction for on-course comfort.

I recently had the opportunity to lace up a pair of Under Armour’s new Spieth 3 shoes. The first thing I noticed was how snug they fit, almost form fitting. Because the Clarino leather is so supple, there is no break-in period required. I walked around in them for a while, hit several balls on the range and did some chipping and putting. I found them very comfortable and couldn’t believe how well connected they kept me to the ground.

The UA Spieth 3 shoes are currently available for men in half sizes 7 – 13 and in either Black/Black or White/Overcast Grey. Retail price is $200 and includes a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.

UA HOVR Drive

The latest Under Armour golf shoe to hit the market is the UA HOVR Drive. The upper is made from a breathable, Clarino microfiber and the lightweight waterproof membrane keep you cool & dry. The 100% waterproof UA Storm technology repels water without sacrificing breathability and carries a 2-year limited waterproof warranty.

What’s different about this shoe is the UA HOVR technology which supports the natural movement of your foot during your swing to provide a “zero gravity feel.” This helps to maintain an energy return and helps eliminate impact step after step. This is aided in part by Under Armour’s Compression Mesh Energy Web, made and molded with UA HOVR foam to give you back the energy you put in. Strategically placed cushioning and support from the ground up along with an integrated footbed, insole, midsole and outsole provide ultimate vertical traction. A dual durometer footbed provides lateral support and medial softness to harness power on your downswing.

The integrated lacing system forgives you a locked-in fit and the new, lower profile UA Rotational Resistance (RST 2.0) and Softspike™ Silver Tornado spikes help keep you firmly connected to the ground and comfortable during your round.

When it comes to comfort and keeping your feet firmly planted on the ground, the new HOVR drive shoes don’t disappoint. They are available in Black/Metallic Silver or White/Red and in Men’s sizes 7 – 15. Retail price is $160. For more information, visit the Under Armour website, www.underarmour.com.
